Joseph (Uncle Joe) Giacobbe was born in 1923 in NYC. He resided for many years at 21-14 47th Street in the Long Island City/Astoria section of Queens – as did many mob relatives. He was a documented, long-time “soldier” and later elevated (by 1980) to “caporegime” in the DeCavalcante Family.

Identified in the 1983 U.S. Senate hearings as a member, Giacobbe was active in bookmaking, shylocking, and extortion rackets in the Queens and Brooklyn areas of NYC.
He almost exclusively operated only in the New York region.
He named among his associates Nicholas “Nicky Dell” Delmore, Vincent Rotondo, Frank Cocchiaro, Carmelo Cocchiaro, Robert DiBernardo, Rudy Farone, Frank Majuri, Louis Larasso, and most of the NYC membership.
He had either a brother or a cousin named Larry Giacobbe, who also was an (inducted) member. Another little-known member who kept a very low profile.
