The City of Albany
Within the State’s Capitol, in the City of Albany (population 95,000), one of the most active, respected, and powerful local racket guys over the years was a fellow named Louis (Doc) Farone. Born in 1904, Doc Farone resided with his wife and kids at 46 Ludlow Street in Saratoga Springs.
He was never named as an official ‘member’ of the Mafia, or even directly connected to anyone particular Cosa Nostra Family for that matter, yet he seemed to be very well-known to them and respected as a longtime area bootlegger, gambler, and all-around racketeer just the same.
