Willie Weisberg was a Jewish gangster who operated in Philadelphia under Harry (Nig Rosen) Stromberg, a notorious underworld figure and acknowledged boss over the city’s Jewish Mob, which was also known as The 69th Street Gang. Starting out as Stromberg’s chauffeur and bodyguard, Weisberg eventually rose to become a top lieutenant, and later, Stromberg’s second-in-command.

Max (Willie) Weisberg – aka “Willie Weisberg” and “Slick Willie” – was born in Russia in 1898 and came to the United States with his parents as a 6-year-old child. He was raised and reared in the “City of Brotherly Love” and later resided and operated there his entire lifetime.

For years, he made his home at 410 S. 11th Street. Later, he moved into a luxury apartment complex at 2601 Parkway, Apt #1010-A. As an old man, he relocated to the Uptown Senior Home at 7800 Bustletown Avenue. All three residences were located in Philadelphia.

By the time he was a young man, Weisberg was already serving in the capacity of a chauffeur and bodyguard for the notorious Harry (Nig Rosen) Stromberg, one of Philadelphia’s leading underworld figures and acknowledged boss over the city’s Jewish Mob.
