Angelo Gallo was a DeCavalcante soldier active in loanshark rackets. He was also associated with the Gallo Gang faction of the Profaci/Colombo Family. Angelo Augusto Gallo was born in Brooklyn on July 30, 1921, to Umberto and Amelia (nee DeSantis) Gallo. His father died in 1928, leaving his mother alone to raise their large family. Angelo had five brothers and two sisters. Gallo resided at 311 6th Avenue. He was identified as a “veteran” soldier in the New York City faction of the Family. Gallo had a younger brother named Umberto (Vadoo) Gallo, who was also a Family soldier. I do not know if current DeCavalcante soldier James “Jimmy” Gallo of Brooklyn is related. He was active in the loanshark rackets around the South Brooklyn waterfront. He was also involved in pier thefts and the receiving and fencing of stolen goods off the docks. He was employed for years on the docks at the North-East Marine Terminal in an ILA Local. Gallo's criminal associates included his brother Umberto, nephew Umberto Jr., Rudolph Farone, Frank Cocchiaro, Louis Larasso, Louis Telese, Anthony Grillo, and Stevie Cirillo (Crazy Joey Gallo’s nephew.) He was also closely associated with many Profaci/Colombo Family members, especially Gallo gang members, whose membership dominated the Red Hook area. Angelo Augusto Gallo died on November 11, 1981. He was 60 years old.
