Frank Bonomo was a low-key Bonanno soldier who was primarily active in loansharking, thefts, and fencing stolen goods. He was a virtual unknown until the early to mid-1960s when the federal government started the big push to investigate the mob, and he was caught on a “bug” planted in a fellow mobster’s garment firm office discussing mob business. This brought much-unwanted attention and led to many law enforcement problems.
Although primarily active in loansharking, thefts, and fending stolen goods, Bonomo was also a chauffeur for many of his mob superiors, including acting boss Frank Mari. And he was the Mari’s driver the day Mari and capo Mike Adamo disappeared.
