Long affiliated with the Joseph Bonanno Family, Smitty D’Angelo was considered a solid guy all his life and was very well-liked by everybody. He had been “straightened out” since the late 1940s and had been upped to “Caporegime” status during the Bonanno War years.
He mostly operated in the Brooklyn and Queens section of New York and had many close associates in all the crews over the years, especially the Bonanno and Profaci crews, which were both prominent in his neighborhood while he was growing up.
