John (Johnny Connecticut) Busso was a soldier in New York’s Gambino Family who migrated down to Miami, where he opened up several restaurants in partnership with other mafiosi, including the Garden State Restaurant. He also owned the Polka Dot Restaurant in NYC.

Once established in the Miami area, Busso operated as a bookmaker and started a loan shark book in the area. Informants later said that Johnny Connecticut was suspected of being one of the men who was onsight for the gangland slayings of Albert Anastasia in the barber’s chair at the Park Sheraton Hotel in 1957.
