Tommy Lucchese – Isn’t This Exciting?

During Tommy Lucchese’s wake in 1967, which was held in South Farmingdale, Long Island, many important mafia members were in attendance including fellow mob boss Joe Colombo.

When a reporter asked him, as he tried to slip away unnoticed after leaving the funeral home, what he thought of Lucchese, Colombo said this:

Reporter: “Was Three Fingers a good friend of yours?“

Joe Colombo: “He was a fine man, a very nice man.”

As an aside, in addition to all the infamous mobsters who paid their respects to Lucchese, was also a crowd of gawkers.

That same newspaper reported that a teenage girl said to her companion: “Isn’t this exciting? This is just like watching a George Raft movie on TV.”

George Raft, btw, was said to be a close personal friend of Genovese mobster, Charlie the Blade Tourine.
