Little-known Genovese Family soldier named Jimmy Altomari lived and operated in Lower Manhattan’s Little Italy neighborhood for many decades. He was a highly respected old-timer in the underworld, who was commonly referred to as “The Old Man of Mulberry Street.”
Altomari was said to have been actively connected to both labor-union corruption and local gambling rackets centered around his Little Italy neighborhood. He also controlled various dice, card, and Ziganette games along Market and Madison Streets near the Fulton Fish Market and was closely affiliated with Jimmy Blue Eyes Alo and Pete DeFeo.
