By the mid- to late 1920s, mafioso Antonio (Tony Grio) Vadala had already become a key Family soldier, as well as an intimate friend, business partner, and close confidante of Mafia boss Tommy Lucchese. Although he was not as well known as most of his underworld brethren, “Tony Grio,” as most everyone knew him, was a very shrewd mafioso. In fact, over the course of his lifetime, he became one of the more successful and accomplished — if understated — members of the old Lucchese Family.
And unlike so many of his brethren who became notorious over the years, Tony always preferred to stay in the background, making headway and accomplishing his goals in a quiet, understated manner.
